Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors is one of the best scorers in the league. However, behind this tag is a meticulous process which he's been doing for a decade.

After notching the most efficient shooting night of his career by going 12-of-13 from the field en route to 28 points against the Memphis Grizzlies, Durant confessed that he's been ‘charting' his shots since 2009.

“2009,” Durant said, per Nick Friedell of ESPN. “My second year in the league. I started charting my shots and makes and misses throughout the game. That kind of reminded me to take good shots and it keeps me locked in on the flow of the game. So I guess it's a game within a game.”

Though the former MVP didn't specify the details, charting one's shots would involve marking makes and misses on the basketball floor. Given this, a player would see where are his hotspots or the areas on the floor where he shoots a high percentage.

In their game against the Grizzlies, Kevin Durant hit most of his shots from the right side of the ring. Most of his attempts were 10-20 foot jumpers around the right elbow. He only drained one shot at the baseline and two shots around the left elbow of the court.

It's an interesting tidbit from the mind of Durant — one of the league's premier offensive talents. It goes to show that his basketball training doesn't just comprise of heaving hundreds of shots every day. But there's also a precise science behind it.
