Despite Stephen Curry's brilliant scoring so far in the 2022 NBA Finals, Draymond Green is the Golden State Warriors player on everyone's mind. After another dismal performance in the Game 3 loss to the Boston Celtics, he chirped at Celtics fans and has left his team in a 1-2 series deficit.

Green has been awful for Golden State so far. He has fouled out of two games and is averaging 5.0 points on 26.3 percent shooting. He has as many fouls as points through three contests, putting up a historically bad performance on top of a dreadful series overall.

Thompson came to Green's defense. After calling out the Celtics fans for disrespecting him, he explained how important he is to the Warriors and is confident that Green will respond with a strong performance against the Celtics in Friday night's Game 4.

Thompson's claim that Green makes mistakes like everyone else doesn't exactly hold up given Green's obsession with starting squabbles and podcasting after every game. Although Green's value to the Warriors has always come outside of the box score, it is impossible to ignore how disruptive he has been in a bad way.

Green needs to get his shooting right, at least not as bad as it is, and focus on playing better. The Warriors do indeed need him, which is why they are losing the series so far with him playing so poorly. If he doesn't get better, the Dubs will lose their chance to make it four championships in the Curry-Thompson-Green era.
