Former LeBron James teammate and Los Angeles Lakers guard Mac McClung is getting another shot to make an NBA roster. This time, it's with Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
According to Shams Charania of the Athletic, McClung is signing a one-year deal with the Warriors. The contract is non-guaranteed, but it gives the 23-year-old guard a chance to make the Dubs' roster since it is a standard deal–not an Exhibit 10 deal.
McClung’s deal will be a standard, non-guaranteed deal – not an Exhibit 10 – that gives him an opportunity to make the Warriors’ roster out of training camp. https://t.co/pAk7ZTAchq

Mac McClung had a standout performance for the Warriors in the Summer League, so it's not a surprise why Golden State wanted to get another look at him in training camp. The youngster averaged 13.4 points and 4.8 assists in Vegas, even capping the tournament with a 14-point, six-assist display in their final game against the Washington Wizards.
Warriors assistant Jama Mahlalela, who served as the head coach of the Summer League team, also had high praises for McClung after he exploded for 22 points against the San Antonio Spurs last July 11.

We didn’t know he could do that at that high level… If he can become elite as a shooter then you add that to his penetration then you’re looking at NBA talent, but his competitiveness for sure is at an NBA level, his care factor. We’re excited and if we can help propel his career in any way possible, that’s a great honor for us.”
Sure enough it will be difficult for McClung to make the Warriors' roster considering how loaded they are with young talent. But if there is one thing the Georgetown and Texas Tech product has proven, it's the fact that he never backs down to any challenge.

McClung bounced around during his rookie year, first playing on 10-day contracts and the G League before landing a two-way deal with the Lakers. Now, he's certainly more motivated than ever to make it to a 15-man roster.
