Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob says Klay Thompson is “the greatest shooting guard in the world.”

The Warriors drafted Thompson with the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. At the time, no one saw Thompson carving out the career he has with the Dubs so far, not even Lacob.

In a short amount of time, Thompson has established himself as arguably the second-greatest shooter in NBA history behind his backcourt mate, Stephen Curry. Lacob says Thompson is just a great player on both sides of the ball and that the Warriors are fortunate to have him.

“I believe he’s the greatest shooting guard in the world – to me,” Lacob told Sam Amick of The Athletic. “Now other people may differ, but I’ve always felt that. He’s 6-foot-7, he has an incredible shot. He’s been over 40 percent [from three] every year in the league. Not once or twice, but every year – he barely made it this year.

“But I mean, he’s KLAY THOMPSON man. He’s a tremendous shooter. He’s a tremendous two-way player. When we drafted him, I don’t think we thought he’d be this good defensively. He has improved incredibly. He’s just a great player.”

Thompson scored 27 points in Game 6 on Friday against the Houston Rockets to help the Warriors advance to their fifth-straight Western Conference Finals. Golden State now awaits the winner of the Portland Trail Blazers-Denver Nuggets series.

Thompson has career averages of 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from beyond the arc during the regular season. He's made the All-Star team five times and is one of the core players the Warriors have been building around for years.
