The Golden State Warriors fell short in crunch time against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night, absorbing a 107-101 loss. The Warriors are now 2-5 in their last seven outings, including back-to-back losses at Chase Center.

Stephen Curry had another strong showing with 27 points and 10 assists, but he only shot 11-of-25 from the field. Andrew Wiggins added 18 points, as the Warriors played without Klay Thompson, who was nursing an illness.

But while the Warriors played well on offense, Kevon Looney felt they might've focused too much on scoring and not on putting up a fight defensively (via ESPN).

“I think we let our offense dictate our energy and our spirit in the game. We kind of folded when adversity hit.”

Looney is a soft-spoken workhorse, so in the rare times that he talks, you know there's a little frustration in there. With the Warriors lacking frontcourt help, the 26-year-old Looney is primarily left with the duty to protect the paint, and he's been battling valiantly against All-Star big men. So perhaps, he simply wants to see more desire from his teammates so they can get out of their mini-slump.

Looney finished with eight points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals against the Mavericks and had a team-high plus-minus of +15. But despite his relentless efforts, they couldn't notch the W, dropping to 43-18.

The Warriors can exact revenge against the Mavericks when they face off again on Thursday, but they need to get past the Minnesota Timberwolves first on Tuesday.
