Golden State Warriors main man Stephen Curry isn't new to getting compliments. But when it comes from his fellow players, it becomes extra special. It should be, right? On Tuesday, he received the ultimate compliment, quite unexpectedly, from Los Angeles Lakers guard Dennis Schroder, who is set to shadow Curry in their play-in tournament skirmish.
According to Brian Witt of NBC Sports Bay Area, Schroder considers Curry as the best shooter to ever play the game. That's high praise for someone who has been known to antagonize opponents with his fiery attitude.
“He's the best shooter who ever played this game, so I mean, any shot from halfcourt on, it's a good shot for him.”
Schroder will definitely have his hands full trying to contain Curry on Wednesday. The two-time MVP has been on an absolute tear over the past few months, setting new milestones left and right and making people question every sense of humanity with his otherworldly offensive onslaughts.
Article Continues BelowSchroder is also very much aware that Curry can singlehandedly carry the Warriors. But numbers show that the Lakers guard has had success against Curry this season. Schroder, as the primary defender, limited the Warriors alpha dog to just 6-of-19 shooting from the field in their three previous meetings.
So yeah, perhaps Curry has that in mind and wants to find vindication against Schroder. The former Davidson standout has always found new motivations to keep him going, and proving Schroder wrong could be one of them. Bad news for the Lakers.
Dennis Schroder has never been tight-lipped about his opinions and tipping his hat to Stephen Curry was kind of a delightful surprise. Unless he's just playing mind games as part of their head-to-head battle.
