Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry busted his behind for the team during an MVP-caliber season. He also busted his behind in a more literal sense.
Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers revealed Monday the 33-year-old point guard had been dealing with a hairline fracture in his tailbone:
“Small hairline, but as I've been told the pain was coming more from a contusion,” Myers said, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
That would seem to inform Curry's absences with back pain earlier in this season. He experienced some discomfort throughout the year, though it was not enough to stop him from putting up some prolific numbers.

Most importantly, he led a depleted Warriors team to within an inch of the playoffs.
Golden State made it to the play-in tournament after finishing eighth in the Western Conference during the regular season. However, the Warriors were unable to advance to the standard playoff bracket. They came up short against the Los Angeles Lakers before losing an overtime thriller to the Memphis Grizzlies despite 39 points from Curry.
It remains to be seen how Curry will address the issue in the offseason. In any event, a reloaded Warriors team should have the chance to contend next season.
The Dubs will get Klay Thompson back, along with rookie center James Wiseman. Of course, Curry will be at the center of it all, hoping to once again stake his claim as the best player in the NBA.
