The series between the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies is all tied up. Ja Morant’s crew took Game 2 106-101, and the All-Star guard had a game-high 47 points. The defeat left the Warriors frustrated and concerned, but it wasn't because they lost a winnable game. It was because Gary Payton II fractured his elbow after being brutally knocked out of the air by Memphis guard Dillon Brooks.
The play occurred before the Warriors scored a single point. Brooks was given a flagrant 2 and was ejected from the game, and Payton II went to the hospital to get X-rays. Stephen Curry talked about the injury after the loss.
“We’ll see what happens with his injury. It was obviously a tough way to start the game, but we'll see what happens,” Curry told ClutchPoints. “It was definitely, talking about, a flagrant two, definitely one of those. They made the right call there. I feel bad for GP. This is his time to shine, and in a series like this, a play like that knocks him out. It's tough.”

Payton II had the best season of his career. He averaged a career-high 7.1 points for the Warriors. He shot 61.6 percent from the field and averaged 1.4 steals per game off the bench.
The son of NBA legend Gary Payton was one of the best stories all season for the Dubs. His departure was an enormous blow to the team's morale. The calamity was something the Warriors couldn't quite overcome in Game 2.
Now the Warriors travel home to the Bay Area. They'll have a chance to regroup and devise a game plan to avenge their loss and the tragic incident that happened to their teammate. Game 3 is Saturday at the Chase Center.
