While the United States continues its fight against blatant racism to minorities, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry bared that successful African Americans also deal with “subtle racism” on a daily basis.
The two-time NBA MVP particularly touched on the subject of how people are amazed when successful black people express themselves in an eloquent manner when speaking.
“The preconceived notions of how they view rich, successful black people as anomalies. Our intelligence, out well-spokeness, that’s always the first thing you hear. If somebody knows how to be articulate and come into a room. That’s the subtle racism and prejudice that starts to add on itself,” the Warriors sharpshooter explained, per NBCS Authentic.
Stephen Curry spoke with a panel that includes Hall of Famer and TNT analyst Charles Barkley during the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe. Check out his full sentiments below:

Curry has been no stranger to the spotlight since emerging as one of the NBA's most popular figures in recent years. His success has indeed put him in a lot of people's radar, and he has likely been a victim of “subtle racism” throughout his professional career.
The Warriors won't be joining the 22 teams that will restart the suspended 2019-20 season in a bubble location in Orlando, Florida. Although he won't be able to use the league's platform as a mode for change once the NBA returns, however, it's nice to see Curry continuing to speak out against social injustices.
Golden State is expected to join the rest of the eight eliminated teams in a possible second bubble in Chicago. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if the team's veterans like Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green will participate if it pushes through.
