Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors is well-spoken, bright, and seemingly motivated by the right causes. Do these qualities make him a good politician? Does he even want to enter into the world of politics? Not quite.
In an interview with Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle, Kerr was asked if he envisions himself entering the political world. While Kerr seems qualified, he isn't too keen on running for office:
Article Continues Below“I can’t imagine that, honestly. I love what I do and I’m qualified to do what I do, whereas I would be unqualified to run for public office. I don’t have any experience with that kind of stuff. It doesn’t sound like that much fun, to be honest.”
In the event Kerr decides to run, popularity certainly won't be a problem. He did helm the Warriors to three championships over the last four seasons. In terms of capability, Kerr doubts himself. But he certainly has the smarts to weave his way among politicians as evidenced by his impressive resume.
But the last part of his answer seems non-negotiable. Kerr doesn't see the fun and joy in politics. And this is completely alright. While the sport of basketball has a bit of politics in its workings, at the end of the day, it's just basketball. And Kerr knows this for a fact. He'd rather stay on his side of the field. The side where's he's grown accustomed to.
