The Golden State Warriors have been struggling as of late. They have lost four of their last seven games and are starting to lose grip of the top spot in the Western Conference.
Head coach Steve Kerr addressed the team's recent performances and cited that their bench needs to improve if they want to win more games, especially since the playoffs are just a few weeks away.
Article Continues Below“Our bench can be a whole lot better. Sometimes we can be too passive, trying to get those other guys the ball, stay out of their way, when we have to look to be on the attack. We’ve got to be threats every time we’re on the court,” Kerr said, via Jeff Faraudo of The Mercury News.
The Warriors' offense usually struggles whenever Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson goes to the bench, as guys like Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and Jordan Bell fails to score on a consistent basis. In their win against the Denver Nuggets last night, the Dubs bench was only able to produce 23 points.
Over the past couple of years, Golden State's bench has been considered as one of the best in the league, but keeping the core of Curry, Durant, Thompson and Draymond Green intact has limited their option in signing good reserves. The Warriors still plan on keeping the four together, which means that this could be a recurring issue if the team is able to retain their star-studded core.
