The Golden State Warriors, led by head coach Steve Kerr, head into the 2018-19 season with much of the spotlight on the team being the back-to-back defending champions, but this hasn't helped switch the topic toward next offseason where both All-Stars Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson on pace to be unrestricted free agents.
This has quickly led to Kerr to state after practice on Tuesday that he doesn't have any interest in speaking about free agency next summer, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

“We want them here for the long. Bob (Myers) said it best in the offseason he said especially in these days in the NBA just to take year by year. That's our focus this year. This will probably be the last time I say something about free agency for next year. That's a good question on the first day of practice. That is a question that will be looming, but it's a question that will be looming for fans and media. It won't be looming for us. We will focus on this year and have a great time, so fun, and try to go out and do it again. (We) don't worry about all that other stuff.”
Kerr has made it a point to quickly put this topic on the backburners as it is something that will be asked again as the season progresses along. The fact of the matter is that both Thompson and Durant are drifting toward being on the open market next summer where they could attract plenty of attention around the league.
However, it is a topic that Kerr doesn't want to become a potential distraction for the team throughout the season, especially with the focus being on winning a third straight NBA title and a fifth straight NBA Finals appearance. This is a lofty goal in front of the franchise that should take all of their attention away from any out of the outside noise that arises during the course of the year.
In the meantime, these comments from Kerr make it clear that this is something that he and neither the team want to discuss to any extent moving forward into the 2018-19 season.
