Klay Thompson is slowly getting back to the swing of things after missing the last two seasons. The Golden State Warriors have brought him in slowly thus far.

Through his first 17 games played, he's averaged a shade over 25 minutes of action per game. He's breached the 30 minute mark twice this season, both in the past four games. Based on the recent comments from Warriors head coach Steve Kerr on 95.7 The Game's Damon and Ratto show, those numbers are about to go higher.

“Thirty-four [minutes] is what we kinda map out for Klay and Steph [Curry], 34 to 36,” the Warriors coach said. “Steph has gone over that quite a bit this year just out of necessity, When the playoffs come, 34 to 36 becomes 36 to 39. We’re still six, seven weeks away from the playoffs. As Klay continues to improve and ramp up the minutes, I think that’s where we’re heading. He’s gonna be fully capable of playing a 38-minute playoff game without any problem.”

Klay Thompson has shown in his first weeks of action that there's not much rust left to shake off. He's already averaging 17.1 points per game and draining three triples every night, both numbers that would jump up with increased playing time.

The goal is to have Klay Thompson primed and ready for yet another Warriors stretch run in the postseason. So far it looks like everything has gone according to plan, with Steve Kerr ready to take it to the next level.
