Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler are two of the biggest voices in sports speaking out against the gun violence issue in America. The two head coaches from the Bay Area have not been afraid to use their voices to call attention to the problem.

Kerr's remark about peaceful protests being the American way is only partially true. While peaceful protests against injustices are important, history shows that it has usually taken a violent struggle to obtain rights and protections under the law for marginalized groups of people.

Still, Kerr's support of Kapler is a big endorsement. They are not alone in calling for action but have taken some of the most vocal stances amongst those in the sports world. Using their platforms is the best way for them to reach politicians and hopefully kickstart meaningful change.

While the Warriors prepare for the NBA Finals, in which they will face the Boston Celtics or Miami Heat, Kerr will likely still keep his attention on the many issues at hand in the United States.
