When the Golden State Warriors re-signed small forward Andre Iguodala to a three-year, $48 million deal back in the summer of 2017, a lot of people questioned the move and said Steve Kerr and the Dubs overpaid to keep Iggy.

But Iguodala's value to the Warriors shows in the playoffs, not in the regular season.

The former All-Star averaged only 5.7 points per game during the regular season. For a player making $16 million annually, that's a low points per game mark. So far in the 2019 playoffs, though, Iguodala has been playing at a very high-level, as he's putting up 11.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists through eight games.

Kerr says Iguodala “has been worth every penny and more” for the Warriors because of his stellar play in the postseason.

“Depends on your viewpoint,” Kerr told Anthony Slater of The Athletic when asked to rate Iggy's contract. “Are we overpaying statistically? Probably. Are we overpaying in terms of his value on winning a championship? Hell, no. Can you imagine us without him? No. He’s been worth every penny and more.”

The Warriors are trying to win their third-straight title and fourth ring in five years. Iguodala was the 2014 Finals MVP and is one of the most versatile players in the league.

The Warriors are overpaying Iguodala in the regular season, but his worth increases during the postseason.
