Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr appears to be pleased with where DeMarcus Cousins is at in his recovery process.
DeMarcus Cousins signed with the Warriors in the offseason but has yet to play for the team while rehabbing from a torn Achilles that prematurely ended his 2017-18 season.
However, Steve Kerr seems to be optimistic about Cousins rejoining the team at some point after the four-time All-Star took part in practice on Sunday.
Article Continues Below“DeMarcus is making some strides,” Kerr told reporters Sunday after practice in Detroit, per Monte Pool of NBC Sports:. “He’s looked a lot better to me the last couple days, the intensity of his workouts. We didn’t do any scrimmaging or anything today, but he took part in every aspect of our practice. He’s making some strides, which is exciting.”
Getting Cousins in the lineup would obviously be a huge boost for the Warriors, who have gotten off to a 15-9 start this season.
Cousins had a dominant campaign in 2017-18, averaging 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds before suffering the injury back in January.
He would add yet another dynamic element to the Golden State roster, especially considering his scoring, rebounding, and shot-blocking ability in the paint.
While the Warriors find themselves in the middle of a two-game losing streak, it's not exactly a cause for concern for a team that's loaded with talent across the board.
Kerr's team will return to action on Monday night in Atlanta before finishing out their trip to the East with games at Cleveland and Milwaukee later in the week.
