Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is unequivocally confident that the organization, from top-to-bottom, would welcome Klay Thompson back after his contract is up.
The 6-foot-7 marksman is due to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, but has been known to give his home team preference in the race for his services:
“I know that everybody — coaches, management, ownership — everybody wants Klay back,” said Kerr, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. “I think the feeling is just, Klay wants to be here, we want Klay.”
Thompson's easygoing demeanor, sense of humor and extreme competitiveness at both ends of the floor are viewed as integral assets to the Warriors.

The 29-year-old is likely looking at the biggest contract of his life after making only $69 million over the last four years. Thompson has reportedly no plans to give the Warriors a hometown discount, given that at this point, any money-saving from the organization would only be to shave luxury tax dollars.
The same can be said for teammate Kevin Durant, who noted during the season that he planned to get paid this time around, likely setting up his departure from the Bay Area.
There is little doubt that Thompson, a favorite in the locker room, will be welcomed back by all involved. But the Warriors will have to show it with the zeroes at the end of his check, or risk him considering other options in this vital free-agency stint.
