Golden State Warriors consultant and former two-time MVP Steve Nash received his much overdue championship ring from the organization from a shirtless head coach Steve Kerr — a much different endeavor than the official ring ceremony he politely declined last week.
Nash, who fell short of winning a championship during his playing days, opted not to line up next to coaching staff members during the season-opener, saying the ceremony was for the players to enjoy, not him — despite the genuine sentiment
The 43-year-old captioned his photo:
“My own personal ring ceremony. Want to thank everyone who came out and for all the support. Clothing was optional but good vibes mandatory. Go Dubs.”
Nash has been a vital part of this Warriors team, despite operating behind the scenes. He played a big role in convincing Kevin Durant to do what is best for his playing future and abandon the idea of a dream career, enticing him to look for new challenges.
The dime maestro has also worked with Durant in one-on-one drills as well as with many Golden State guards on their shooting and pick-and-roll game — two of his areas of expertise.
Shirt or no shirt, the Warriors weren't about to leave Nash empty-handed after sticking with the franchise for two entire seasons and being a part of the organization through the rough patches as well as the major success.
