SAN FRANCISCO – The Golden State Warriors have had a new face of the franchise over the last 20 or so games, and his name is Jordan Poole.
There's no replacing the greatest shooter of all time, Stephen Curry, but Poole has looked a lot like him lately. The two-time MVP also sees himself in the third-year guard, and broke down why after Golden State's convincing Game 1 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
“Yeah, because of our system,” Curry told ClutchPoints. “It's predicated on ball movement, player movement, and everybody being in sync, and Draymond, we obviously talked about his defensive IQ. His offensive IQ as a playmaker depending how guys are guarding him, he makes sure to get everybody involved.”

In March, Poole led the Warriors by averaging 25.4 points per game while, shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from deep. Poole also knocked down the most three-pointers in the NBA last month, draining a whopping 67 triples.
“There are some patterns that JP has figured out that made the game a little bit easier, but he's also different too,” Curry said about his protege. “He's got that shiftiness and change of speed and stuff. He just continues to find a way to make the defense pay for how they are guarding him. It's only going to continue to elevate from here.”
That high level of play has rolled over into the postseason.
In Game 1, Poole led all scorers with 30 points on 9-of-13 shooting. It was one of the best playoff debut games in franchise history. The Warriors aren't expecting him to perform this well every night, but if he contributes consistently throughout the playoffs, Golden State will be tough to beat.
