Kevin Durant agreed to sign with the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday evening, and while his departure from the Golden State Warriors was a move that many felt coming for a while, his decision to leave the franchise with which he won his first two NBA championships was still jarring.

However, Durant's former teammate with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kendrick Perkins, told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated that Durant “had one foot out the door” all year long.

Perkins would not go into too much detail, but his statement corroborated reports other sources told The Undefeated about numerous things transpiring throughout the year that pushed Durant to move on.

“All that showed a lack of respect for one of the greatest players to put that uniform on and the fact that he took all that abuse and still put his career on the line to help them win,” Perkins said.

While we can all kind of glean the types of incidents that Perkins is referring to (Bob Myers taking a jab at Durant during last year's Warriors championship parade, Draymond Green and Durant going at it early in the season, etc.), there had long been rumors that Durant's stay in the Bay Area would only be temporary, so even if those things didn't happen, you have to wonder if Durant would have re-signed.

After all, the Warriors were never—and never would have been—Durant's team, as Stephen Curry was also going to be the No. 1 star in Golden State due to the fact that he was drafted by the franchise and led the Dubs to a title without Durant in 2015.
