Dwyane Wade put the American Airlines Arena on fire after railing a clutch game-winner against the Philadelphia 76ers last night, positioning themselves one game behind the Sixers and clinging to the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.

The longtime Miami Heat star, now back with his old team in this second stint, is hopeful the momentum from this key win can carry over for the remainder of the season.

“We hope so, man,” Wade said, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “It was one game. It was a very emotional win. But it’s just one game. We want to continue to get better.”

Wade went back to his old stomping grounds, dancing around Sixers rookie Ben Simmons and draping his trademark step back two-pointer from the wing to seal a 102-101 victory for the Heat.

The man known as Flash has taken a bench role with this new Heat team, much like he did with the Cleveland Cavaliers to start the season, though last night, the entire building was bound to collapse when the 6-foot-4 legend had the ball in his hands and the clock ticked down, awaiting his magic.

“We’ve brought in guys before but certainly not with this context,” coach Erik Spoelstra said. “Our building was alive [Tuesday] night, and that’s because of No. 3 putting that jersey on. I don’t care what other jersey he puts on… he just somebody totally different in this city, in front of these Heat fans, with that jersey on. He’s just absolutely special in that uniform.”

Wade is hoping this moment is more than just something special, but rather a turning point for a team that has gone a mere 3-7 in their last 10 games.
