It’s always a great story when an athlete goes back to play for a team in his hometown.
It was particularly a great story for Jeff Teague, who signed with the Indiana Pacers this summer, because it came out also that he would be living at home with his parents.
And yes, the Pacers are paying him millions of dollars to play basketball.
“I just got the basement,” Teague famously told 97.5 FM in Indianapolis last week.
While Teague, because of his circumstances, may be a unique case, overall, this is a trend.
Via Heather Long of money.cnn.com:
The “live at home” trend is especially popular among men under 35. A whopping 35% of young adult men in America now live with their parent(s), versus just 29% of young women. Young men are delaying marriage and all the usual trappings that come with it like home buying and kids. The main reason? Money, or the lack of it.

Back in the day though?
In 1960, 62% of young adults in the U.S. lived with a spouse or partner in their own place. That was the most common living arrangement by far. Today, less than 32% of young adults live with a spouse or partner.
See, Teague is just trying to represent his generation in the most true way. He wants to become closer with his fans maybe, experience life in the same way they are.
The goal for most men is to move out of their parents' house probably ASAP, especially when you’re talking about professional athletes. Amazingly, this isn’t the case with Teague.
