The firing of Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale has caught the league by surprise, including some of its current and former players. That includes Sacramento Kings guard Vince Carter, who played for the the 43-year-old last season. He took to his Twitter account after the news broke out, to let his followers know about how he felt about the development.

The veteran swingman could not believe what happened to him, and was obviously in shock. Despite the Grizzlies losing eight straight games, he believes it was not the best of moves made by the franchise, especially basing it from the emoji he included in his tweet.

Before being hired to call the plays for the Grizzlies last year, Fizdale held the assistant coaching position with the Miami Heat from 2008-2016. He was part of their “Big 3” era of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and won two championships in his tenure in South Beach. Known to be a players' coach, he has formed strong bonds with almost all the players who were under his tutelage, and continues to be in touch with them even if they are not working together anymore, which is also the case with Carter.

With J.B. Bickerstaff as his replacement, it will be very interesting to see how the Grizzlies will respond, and if they will be able to turn their fortunes around soon. The team will return to action on Wednesday to take on the San Antonio Spurs, where they will look to finally end their current slide, with their new coach on the sidelines.
