In his 20th year in the league, Vince Carter has shown in his first campaign with the Sacramento Kings that he still has plenty left in the tank to be an effective player on the floor.

A few days following his throwback performance with 24 points in a huge win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, there have been trade rumors floating around his name. In an article by Marc J. Spears for The Undefeated, Carter addressed the growing chatter around him.

“I wouldn’t be a part of a major trade anyway, so I get it. That is not major news. I get it. I’m not worried about it. I don’t pay attention to it. It’s a business. … I just have to do my job for what it says on the front of my jersey. I kind of go from there. I am still going to be me. I am still going to play my best game within the confines of what the coach wants and asks from me. You’ll stress yourself out worrying about what is being said. There are always going to be rumors out there. That’s just how it goes in the league and it’s more prevalent now, whether it’s a superstar, two-way player or you’re a guy that has been around five years.”

Although it will make reasonable sense for Vince Carter to consider being moved to another team with the Sacramento Kings' season quickly going south, he is strongly committed to the franchise. If he had considered that a major factor for him, Carter would have signed elsewhere on a team contending for an NBA title.

Carter has his eyes on making the most of the opportunities he has to play with the Kings this season as he's averaging 3.9 points on 39.5 percent shooting from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc in 14.6 minutes per contest in 21 games played with one start. The 40-year-old is far from the player he once was, but he could certainly have a lot to offer a contending team as a veteran voice in the locker room that has plenty of experience.

With the trade deadline still several weeks away, Vince Carter could be on the move if the right deal were to present itself to the Kings.
