It’s been a good long while since Madison Square Garden has enjoyed a good New York Knicks team. The marquee franchise has had just three winning seasons over the last 16 years and has been an incompetent laughingstock for most of that time.
The Knicks are off to a promising start this season, though, one which has made Knicks legend Bernard King optimistic about the team’s future.

It plays with a central core of desire and passion,” King says per ESPN's Ian Begley. “That’s what the game was always about, and I love to see that they, as a team, command that. They’re going to continue to grow. They will get better.”
“We started hearing the chants of ‘De-fense, De-fense' raining down from the rafters, and you know the fans are into the game. … It’s really been fun to watch,” he said.
The Knicks’ future obviously revolves primarily around their two young foundational pieces, Kristaps Porzingis and Frank Ntilikina. While Porzingis is well on his way toward All-NBA status, Ntilikina remains more of a wild card. Although, he has displayed the potential to be an elite defender at the point guard position.
It’s still way too early to get a sense of how bright the Knicks’ future will actually be, but at least King and the rest of the Knicks fans have hope, which they haven’t had for quite some time.
