It is not often a player manages to get scolded by their perspective franchise during an injury. However, New York Knicks center Enes Kanter managed to receive just that after finding himself in hot water with the Knicks front office for comments he made during their loss to the Portland Trailblazers.
Kanter — who sat out the game with back spasms — had apparently told one of his Knicks teammates to “fight” various members of the Blazers. He has since clarified the comments he made, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.

When I say fight, it means compete, play hard, compete. You get a tech; you get a tech. They told me I cannot say stuff like that. I'm sorry about that. I'm sorry, NBA, my fault.”
“Just got out there play hard, have fun, compete, fight, means do your thing, play hard, as hard as you can.”
It is easy for things to get misinterpreted with English being Enes Kanter's second language. At the same time, one can see how he may have gone overboard in the heat of the moment with the Knicks on the verge of a three-game losing streak at the time.
Kanter's request for more physicality from his teammates should come as no surprise considering that is what has made him such a quick fan-favorite in New York. However, it seems even the Knicks front office wants the bruising big man to tone it down just a bit.
