Coming off a career-high 38-point outing against the Denver Nuggets and a third straight win, Kristaps Porzingis is showing all the right signs of being the leader of this New York Knicks team. However, teammate Enes Kanter is ready to take it one step further.

The Turkish center noted Porzingis should be part of the MVP conversation, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.

Porzingis has demonstrated a fascinating array of skills on the hardwood, but the Knicks are still only at the .500 mark after starting the season 0-3. The Latvian international has had an extensive workload during the summer, not only putting in his usual offseason workouts but playing for his national team in this year's EuroBasket — giving a glimpse of what he can do as the outright leader of a team.

The 7-foot-3 forward has put on some muscle this offseason, making him a tougher target to push off the low block, and one with incredible dexterity to finish around the rim with both hands with a feathery-smooth touch near the cup.

“I think my strength is helping my game a lot. Just having my balance on all those shots here and there,” said Porzingis after a career-high night against the Nuggets. “Even though a lot of those shots are contested I'm able to make them through contact. I'm more comfortable. I'm just more comfortable in the post.”

It might be only six games into the season, but if the unicorn can keep scoring at a high clip and get New York in the conversation for the playoffs, it might not be long until his name enters those MVP talks in the near future.
