With the New York Knicks facing the Miami Heat on Friday, Michael Beasley couldn’t help but recall his three stints with the South Beach team during his early days in the NBA.

After getting selected second overall in the 2008 draft, the Kansas product spent two seasons with the Heat before getting traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. That started a trend for him as he bounced around the league and even played in China, before landing with the Knicks this season.

Beasley shared that he felt Erik Spoelstra and the Heat could’ve given him more trust before deciding to let him go on three occasions. He then added, via Marc Berman of the New York Post, that there’s no love lost between him and his former coach.

“I feel I could've gotten more out of that organization,” Beasley said. “I feel Spo' could’ve believed in me a lot more than he did. It's in the past. [There’s] no love lost.”

Now in his first season in New York, Beasley has been exceeding expectations and playing very well whether as a starter in six games or off the bench. He is averaging solid numbers of 11.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in only 18.5 minutes, and gives his team a reliable contributor night in and night out.

It will be very interesting to see how the veteran forward will perform against the Heat. Based on his comments, it seems like he thinks he has something to prove to them which could fire him up and make him play at a higher level. Should that happen, the Knicks will have a good chance of snapping their current two-game losing streak and get back to their winning ways at the expense of Beasley’s former team.
