For two new players of a team, it’s a challenge to get along and know each other well right away. It’s even more difficult if one of them is a veteran and the other is a rookie. However, that was not the case for Brook Lopez and Lonzo Ball, as the two are already starting to form a strong bond.

The Los Angeles Lakers' starting center recently appeared on the “Popcorn Machine” podcast, where he shared how thrilled he is to know the UCLA product and how his mind works. Lopez also added that he is looking forward to playing with Lonzo Ball.

“Just getting to know Zo, it’s really been exciting. Obviously getting to know him playing on the court and seeing how he thinks, how high a basketball IQ he has for a player at his position and experience, let alone just in general. It’s phenomenal. It was such a treat and pleasure getting to see him play in Summer League. I thought he elevated the team we had out there just so high.”

“It’s really amazing. He impressed me with something new every day. I’m just so thrilled to get on the court with him and kind of learn on the fly. We’ve already talked about where he likes to throw the ball and where I like receiving it in the pick and roll. Just continuing to grow that relationship and really making a special bond that will translate onto the court and obviously lead to success.”

Despite the Lakers being in rebuild mode, many of their fans are already thinking highly of their current lineup, and see them as a playoff team as early as this coming season. With the addition of Brook Lopez and Lonzo Ball, coupled with some more key pieces brought in, they may just live up to expectations and make a return to the postseason for the first time in five years.

It’s also a huge boost to the team that their two new players are having a good relationship this early, as it could translate to immediate familiarity on the court as well.
