Since his lone season at UCLA, there has been a certain perception created about Lonzo Ball due to his father's antics, LaVar Ball. However, since the Los Angeles Lakers selected him with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, teammates have raved about him.

Andrew Bogut, who was signed prior to the start of training camp, has been very outspoken throughout his career. When asked about the rookie, Bogut had nothing but high praise for him according to Roy Ward of Canberra Times:

“He is softly spoken, has a good sense of humour and doesn't say a lot. Nobody has had any issues with him

“People's true colours come out as the season goes on but I don't think he is like anything that has been reported.”

During the draft process, President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka met with Ball and his father. After spending time together, the Lakers determined Ball was not going to be a distraction and ultimately the leader they needed at point guard.

Heading into the new season, there is great optimism for the storied franchise. After just appearing in two preseason games due to an ankle injury, the hope is Ball will be able to make his NBA debut against the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 19.
