Playing in places like Los Angeles or New York can be tough because of how tough the media can be, especially during tough times. It seems it doesn't matter how good a player is, if they go through a tough stretch the media in those markets are quick to turn. Former Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant isn't worried about LeBron James playing in Los Angeles and thinks he has the right character to perform there, via ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk.

Before even coming into the league he was dubbed “The Chosen One” by Sports Illustrated and the expectations have never left him. It seems everything he does including winning titles, is still met with some push from the other side and tries to diminish his accomplishments.
Article Continues BelowThe expectations are going to be high for James with the Lakers. If he isn't able to deliver a title in year one, there will no doubt be some grumbles from the media, but LeBron has never cared much about what the media has said, and as he has aged it has become even less.
It's also good to see that Bryant is on board with the signing. Most compare the two in terms of all-time greats, but Kobe also doesn't seem to be too worried about that now, he is concerned about the Lakers getting back to the promised land and hopefully James is able to bring them there.
