Despite only being selected 27th overall as relative unknown compared to the big names in June’s lottery, Los Angeles Lakers rookie Kyle Kuzma has started his professional career on a high note. He has made the most of the extended playing time he’s been receiving from his team’s coaching staff and is emerging as the steal of the draft.

The 22-year-old Utah product has been averaging impressive numbers of 17.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 32.2 minutes per game, but he is still not satisfied with it. Kyle Kuzma plans to be more effective on the court by improving his ball-handling and defense, per Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet.

“There’s a lot of things. On the court, I need to become a better ball handler. I need to keep learning help-side defense and the different aspects of that, because it’s much different than what I’ve been used to. Being more efficient, I feel like I can do that, even though I’ve been pretty efficient. Just getting to my spots and what not.”

This is definitely good news for the Lakers faithful, as their prized rookie has the drive to become the best basketball player that he can be. Kuzma also has a deep understanding of what it takes for him to take his game to an even higher level which will set his future up for more success.

Should Kyle Kuzma indeed work on the two facets of his game, it will make him an even more important part of the Lakers' future, as they look to return to their glory days in the coming seasons. Kuzma has already been a welcome addition to the team and his continuous development will only make the Purple and Gold better.
