Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball knew he was going to get a hostile welcome coming into the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia — the City of Brotherly Love that now has become re-acquainted with this 76ers team in the wake of the influx of talent in the roster after years of waiting.
Ball heard the boos loud and clear, as most lottery franchises still resent him for his choice to only work out for the Lakers and dismiss any invites from any other teams, including the Sixers. The rookie point guard didn't wait too long to hear it, getting jeers all over as his name was announced in the starting lineup.
Article Continues Below“I knew it was going to be like that. Right when they called my name, they were ready to go,” said Ball during his post-game interview in Spectrum SportsNet. It’s always fun to play like that, though. It was crazy. Like I said, when they called our names, they were going after us.”
Lonzo Ball had a decent all-around game with 10 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, three steals, and four blocks including the game-winning helper to Brandon Ingram, finding him wide-open on the wing for a 3-point dagger to sink the Sixers' hopes.
