Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers were far from finished after signing LeBron James over the weekend. In addition to the four-time MVP, the Lakers have added Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, and now, Rajon Rondo.
The recent signings have led to a lot of chatter on social media. Many fans seem to think it's odd that the Lakers are adding these volatile players who LeBron has had issues with in the past. But rest assured, these signings did not blindside James.
According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the communication between James and the Lakers is strong and it's unlikely that he's angry about any of the moves. Despite their drawbacks, all three players can provide something to the team. All three are wild cards, but James has played with his fair share of wild cards in the past — see J.R. Smith and Chris “Birdman” Andersen.
Article Continues BelowJames is not the ordinary NBA player. He wields more influence than any other player in the league. The idea that Johnson and Rob Pelinka are making these moves without, at the very least, making their star aware ahead of time is laughable.
Not to mention, James won't have to deal with Stephenson's antics on the court anymore. Well, he may have to deal with certain antics, but he won't have to worry about anyone blowing in his ear.
And as long as Rondo, McGee, and Stephenson can keep track of the score late in games, LeBron James will already be better off than he was in Cleveland.
