Los Angeles Clippers center DeMarcus Cousins is gradually getting his feet wet as he already played his ninth game with his new team against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night. Despite seeing limited action, he still manages to attract significant attention from his opponents as he constantly gets double-teamed on the floor.

Cousins admitted that he got surprised by the tactic being used against him, considering that he is merely coming off the bench while also playing on a 10-day contract, per Tomer Azarly.

Despite his claim, veteran players in the league know that Cousins was once regarded as one of the top big men in the league with four All-Star selections to show for. Even after all the injuries, they know that he is still a threat whenever he is playing on the floor. The rest of the league certainly knows the level of production that the former Kentucky talent can bring to the table once he is healthy and given a chance to thrive in a team's system.

Cousins is doing just that in his ongoing stint with the Clippers as he is averaging 7.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 0.3 blocks in 12.9 minutes through nine games played. Due to his production, his 10-day contract was eventually converted to a season-long deal as he will stick with the Clippers for the remainder of their 2020-21 campaign.

Regardless of his current role with the team, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue is expected to utilize DeMarcus Cousins more in their coming games as they head to the postseason. Hopefully, he can stay healthy and continue to be effective in order for him to prove that he can serve as a valuable contributor to a contending team this season.
