LOS ANGELES – Patrick Beverley and the Los Angeles Clippers rallied from a 15-point deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day. The matchup between the Western Conference's top two NBA championship contenders did not disappoint, especially in an exciting fourth quarter.
Beverley finished the game with eight points, nine rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block in 32 minutes. They certainly weren't eye-popping numbers, but the energy behind them were. Beverley had a crucial offensive rebound late in the game as well as a game-saving strip on LeBron James with 3.6 seconds remaining to all but ice the game for the Clippers.
After the game, Beverley was asked about his career-high 6.1 rebounds per game.
“What makes you such a ferocious rebounder for your size?” Beverley was asked.
“My f**king heart,” Beverley responded.

That's just the type of player Patrick Beverley is, and he has shown it time and time again over the last few years. His strip on LeBron was also one of the highlights of the night. At first glance, the deflection appeared to give the Lakers one last chance at a game-tying 3-pointer through an out-of-bounds play. That never materialized as the call was overturned with James touching the ball last before it went out of bounds.
“I just tried to make a play on a great player,” Beverley said. “I went for it the first time, I kinda missed it. I didn't wanna hit him on his elbow. I kinda reached back and I was just fortunate to make a defensive play.”
Patrick Beverley and the Clippers will now enjoy a pair of days off before they lace them up against the Utah Jazz on Saturday night.
