Los Angeles Clippers star small forward Paul George's mom almost died of a stroke when he was just six years old and she was 36.

Fortunately, George's mom was able to get through her battle and now she's doing much better, especially since her son is back home in Los Angeles playing for the Clippers.

George's mom is one strong woman and the Clippers All-Star used his mom's stroke as motivation to overcome the serious leg injury he suffered in 2014 with USA Basketball:

“The thing that kept registering in my head was, ‘If my mom could get through what she got through, then this should be a cakewalk,'” Paul George told Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

“Seriously. On the darkest of days, where I was just out of it — mentally, physically — it was like, ‘Pull yourself together. My mom has been through worse. You got it. Just push through.' That was where the motivation was coming from. From seeing my mom go through it.”

When George was with the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder, Paulette George wasn't able to travel as much to watch her son play.

That’s why George is thrilled to be back home in Los Angeles playing for the Clippers. George’s parents will be at every home game, and PG knows it’s a special feeling seeing his parents on a nightly basis at Staples Center.

In 26 games this season for the Clippers, George is averaging 23.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He’s shooting 42.9 percent from the field, 39.5 percent from beyond the arc and 90.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Clippers are 28-13 on the season. They are in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
