Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Derrick Rose wants to win the Sixth Man of the Year award this season. Last year's winner, Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard Lou Williams, is telling the former MVP to back off in a funny manner.

Lou Williams is one of the most explosive scorers in the game and has won the Sixth Man of the Year award two times in his career. Last season, the 32-year-old scoring guard averaged 22.6 points per game off the Clippers’ bench while shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Williams scored 35 or more points as a reserve six times, tied for the most such games in a season since the NBA began recording starts in 1970-71. He obviously feels the award is his to lose, and rightfully so.

Through six games this season, Lou Williams is averaging 16.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists for the Clippers. He's shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the 3-point line and 92.6 percent from the charity stripe.

Williams currently ranks third in the league in points per game off the bench, trailing only Philadelphia 76ers guard J.J. Redick and New Orleans Pelicans big man Julius Randle. Rose, meanwhile, is ninth in the NBA.

It should be a fun race this season. Lou Williams is the better shooter, while Derrick Rose can get to the paint and finish in traffic with the best of them. Williams, however, has more of a defined role with the Clippers and should be the favorite to win the award again.
