Los Angeles Rams star running back Todd Gurley is sticking with an L.A. team to win the Western Conference in the NBA.

The NFL Pro Bowl rusher appeared on ESPN program “The Jump,” where he agreed with retired Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce's 2020 NBA Finals prediction, the Los Angeles Clippers.

RACHEL NICHOLS: “[Paul Pierce] said the Clippers earlier today for his Finals prediction. Do you think he's got the same? What do you got?”

GURLEY: “Yeah, as of right now I'm gonna go with the Clippers. As of right now — it's still early, it's still early.”

The Clippers are a popular contender to get out of the loaded Western Conference this season after acquiring All-Star forwards Kawhi Leonard (via free agency) and Paul George (by trade) in the busy offseason.

Along with a solid core in defensive-minded perimeter defender point guard Patrick Beverley, veteran off-the-bench shooting guard and three-time Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams, and upcoming players like Montrezl Harrell, Ivica Zubac, and Landry Shamet, it's difficult to wholly dismiss the Doc Rivers-coached squad.

Another possible contender in the West, however, is the other Staples Center resident, the Los Angeles Lakers. Gurley's choice of the Clippers might rub the Lakers and their fans the wrong way considering they have the impressive duo LeBron James and Anthony Davis — two unstoppable forwards of their own.

Gurley knows something about making the championship game, though. The Rams are coming off of a season where they lost to the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
