The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly still in the driver's seat to land Kawhi Leonard this summer in free agency, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.
Leonard becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Toronto Raptors. The three-time All-Star has been heavily linked to joining the Clippers, as he's from the California area.
The Clips have cap space to sign not one, but two max contract players this summer.
. @ramonashelburne on @ESPNLosAngeles about Kawhi Leonard – "I still think he's coming to L.A. I think the #Clippers are in the driver's seat. I've thought that for a long time just because he seems to be a guy who wants his own team."#Lakers

Leonard will be pursued by the Clippers, Lakers, Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks this offseason. The Raptors can offer Leonard the most money in free agency and a five-year deal.
When Leonard requested a trade from the San Antonio Spurs last summer, he reportedly had the Clippers and Lakers as the two teams he wanted to be traded to. However, once LeBron James signed with the Lakers, multiple reports suggested Kawhi favored the Clippers over the Purple and Gold.
Led by Jerry West, Lawrence Frank and Doc Rivers, the Clippers are on the come up. They made the playoffs this season despite not having an All-Star on the roster and took the Golden State Warriors to six games in the first round of the playoffs.
If Leonard joins the Clips this summer, they are going to be a problem next season.
