The NBA Awards show this past Monday night saw a slew of players win awards for season performances like MVP as well as single plays like ‘best play of the year.' When it came down to determining the ‘dunk of the year' winner, however, many saw the nominees and came to the conclusion that Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr.‘s incredible poster dunk over then-Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez would be the winner. That wasn't the case, however, as Oklahoma City Thunder guard Victor Oladipo took home the best dunk for a two-handed, double pump dunk around then-Atlanta Hawks center Dwight Howard.

After the award was given out, Nance Jr. took to Twitter to post a photo of lightly salted Lays potato chips as if to say that he's only a little mad that he didn't win.

Even his Lakers' teammate in Brandon Ingram was surprised when he didn't come away with the award.

On Wednesday night, just two days after the awards were handed out, the Lakers held an introductory press conference for their newest acquisition in Brook Lopez, whom they acquired in a trade that saw D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgoz leave Los Angeles. Lopez was asked as series of questions about the Lakers and himself, but was also asked about the dunk of the year nominee.

Lopez gave members of the media his honest opinions, and went as far as to say that Nance Jr. was robbed of the best dunk award following the impressive throwdown over himself.

Lopez will be seeing a lot more of those carpets, and will be on the right side this time.
