Los Angeles Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell will be out at least two weeks after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection in his sore left knee on Wednesday, according to beat reporter Mike Trudell. He is expected to be re-evaluated next week.
The injury has sidelined the No. 2 overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft for two of the last three games prior to tonight's contest against the Golden State Warriors. Head coach Luke Walton had earlier said that Russell may be “shut down” if he can't play aggressively.
The Lakers will likely keep running with José Calderon as the starter and get heavy support from Lou Williams and Jordan Clarkson off the bench. Marcelo Huertas could potentially see some minutes at the point guard position as well.

The team is 1-1 without Russell and faces a tough stretch in the upcoming weeks, playing six of their next nine opponents on the road, including two consecutive games against the Warriors tonight and Friday night.
Things don't get much better after Dec. 12, as they'll embark in a seven-game east coast road trip. Head coach Luke Walton has done a great job at managing his resources — hence the unexpected 8-7 record thus far — but will need all his horses to survive a very tough four weeks in the near future.
