There is no question that Luka Doncic is standing out during the EuroBasket tournament. Some of the recent numbers he's put up indicate something more.

During Slovenia's game against Poland, Doncic scored 24 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists. Additionally, he was 4-for-9 from the field, 3-for-6 at the three-point line, and 13-for-14 at the free-throw line.

Despite Doncic's heroics, Poland defeated Slovenia 105-95. Also, Doncic obtained his first technical foul in the game.

The performance he put on shows that Doncic is very much a top contender for the NBA MVP this season.

Recently, he signed a $165 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He is coming off his first season with the Lakers following the consequential trade from the Dallas Mavericks. Doncic averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game with the Lakers.

Eventually, the Lakers made it to the NBA Playoffs before losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.

During the offseason, Doncic has not only competed in EuroBasket, he's gotten himself in peak shape but dropping some pounds.

If all goes well, Doncic could be a real contender for NBA MVP. Already, he has become a potent offensive force, particularly in the areas of points per game and per minute.

During his career, Doncic has achieved 33.6 points per 36 minutes and 34.9 minutes per game.

Furthermore, he is on the cusp of eclipsing Russel Westbrook to average 30 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists per game in a single season.

Essentially, Doncic is aimed to bolster his efforts from the Mavericks to the Lakers. If he is able to hold on and get the absolute most out of his first full season with the Lakers, Doncic is very well on his way to immortality.
