Only a few days prior to the start of training camp, the Chicago Bulls and shooting guard Dwyane Wade have agreed to a buyout and with it comes the opportunity for the 35-year-old star to sign with another team to further his run in the NBA.

While the Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to be hard-pushers for this acquisition, the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to make a run at the 12-time All-Star as well, according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype. Los Angeles reached out to Wade shortly after his buyout.

The Cavs remain as the frontrunner, reportedly willing to offer him J.R. Smith's starting job to welcome him into the pack, an offer that can prove tough to turn down in a championship contender.

“I'm going to take tonight and some of tomorrow and speak to the teams or players that's on my list and go from there,” Wade told Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.

Wade only has a few years left in the league and the urgency can prove to be the ultimate factor in his decision, hoping to be part of training camp once it takes off.

Even though his numbers have regressed from his All-Star days, Wade is still a more-than-serviceable guard that can do just about anything on the floor despite his history of injuries through the years.

The Lakers would be getting a mix of a proven veteran and a star-caliber player, but will have to open the checkbook in order to pry him away from LeBron James and the Cavs.
