It's no secret that the Los Angeles Lakers think very highly of Lonzo Ball. They selected him second overall in last June's draft, and even traded D'Angelo Russell to allow him to be their undisputed starter at the point guard spot. That said, the Lakers want Ball to emerge as a future leader of the team, but according to Luke Walton, he already sees him as one.
The second year head coach was asked what his thoughts are about Lonzo Ball's leadership potential. He did not hesitate to say, via ClutchPoints' Ryan Ward, that he thinks he is already a leader, despite only playing in the Summer League and two preseason games for the Lakers.

Since Lonzo Ball first played for the Purple and Gold, he has showcased his impressive skill set and all-around game. He has had solid performances throughout the Summer league, and was rewarded with the MVP Award of the tournament. His prowess on both ends of the floor were once again in full display in the preseason, as he has recorded a good balance of points, rebounds, and assists in two games so far.
The Lakers are hopeful that Ball will be able to live up to expectations in his rookie year. Although it may seem like too much for a first year player, he has proven during his stint in the NCAA that he is a natural leader, and it's now all a matter of translating it to the NBA, with the help of Luke Walton and company.
