The Los Angeles Lakers narrowly missed out on convincing Kawhi Leonard to complete what might have been the biggest, baddest, and best Big Three in NBA history. Just because the reigning Finals MVP ultimately spurned his team to sign with the cross-arena rival LA Clippers, though, hardly means Anthony Davis holds any ill will towards him.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Davis insisted he wasn't disappointed that Leonard chose the Clippers, but also admitted the Lakers would have been overwhelming title favorites if free agency had played out differently.

“I'm never disappointed for another man. I mean, you're a grown man,” Davis said of his reaction to Leonard's decision. “Obviously, us having him, you could have marked us up as champions right there. But the Staples Center is gonna be a lot of fun this year. It's got two great teams. Obviously, we brought a lot of excitement back to the Lakers organization, where we're supposed to be, what all the fans are used to, so that's gonna be fun. And then every night going into Staples, especially against the Clippers, is gonna be a battle. We're excited about it.”

Leonard, who led the Toronto Raptors to the Larry O'Brien Trophy last season, chose to sign with the Clippers on July 5, bringing Paul George along with him in an accompanying blockbuster trade between LA and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers reacted by filling out their roster with solid veteran additions like Danny Green, DeMarcus Cousins, and Quinn Cook, while also retaining Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, JaVale McGee, and Rajon Rondo.

Davis, a six-time All-Star, was acquired by the Lakers earlier this offseason in a long-anticipated trade with the New Orleans Pelicans.
