Carmelo Anthony made his highly-anticipated debut for the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday and as expected, it didn't take long before the 10-time All-Star got off the mark for his new team.
For his first-ever basket as a member of the Lakers, Melo drained a classic fadeaway jumper over the outstretched arms of Phoenix Suns defender Jae Crowder (h/t Lakers on Twitter):

This is a typical Carmelo Anthony isolation bucket and his first two points for the Lakers could not have come in a more fitting way. There's definitely going to be more where this came from as Anthony looks to establish himself as a key player for LA in 2020-21.
Unfortunately for Melo, his high-profile debut came during a 117-105 loss against the Suns. Anthony got the start for head coach Frank Vogel, logging 17 minutes in his debut. The 37-year-old veteran finished with eight points on 4-of-10 shooting to go along with two rebounds, and one assist.
That's now two straight preseason defeats for the Lakers following Sunday's blowout against the Brooklyn Nets. They will look to log their first W of the preseason when they return to action against the Golden State Warriors. It looks like LeBron James and Russell Westbrook could be making their debuts for that one as well.
