The Los Angeles Lakers have received a ton of praise of late for their bold decision to hire first-time head coach Darvin Ham as their new man at the helm. Well, Hall of Famer Charles Barkley isn't one of those people who are willing to give LeBron James and Co. their flowers for their most recent personnel decision.

As a matter of fact, Barkley gave the Lakers a harsh reality check. According to the NBA on TNT analyst, he firmly believes that LA is destined to fail with Ham as their new head coach:

“Well I’m glad Darvin got an opportunity ’cause he’s paid his dues,” Barkley said on the Dan Patrick Show (h/t Sam Leweck of Lakers Daily). “He’s a nice guy. We’ll have to see what kind of coach he is. But listen, if one of your coaches is close to the same age as your players, your team not gonna be any good anyway. The Lakers, they got a serious dilemma on their hands. Their best player’s gonna be 40. Anthony Davis has never been healthy. Obviously, [Russell Westbrook] is gonna be there one more year, so what’s really bad about the situation — next year is gonna be the same as this year. And then LeBron just gonna be a year older, and then they’ll have Russ off the books.”

To be fair, Barkley isn't exactly throwing shade at Ham here. As he said, he actually believes the 48-year-old deserves to be a head coach in the NBA. However, Barkley clearly thinks that he's not the right man for the job in LA. Sir Charles also believes that apart from coaching, the Lakers will also have to face a handful of problems this coming season, particularly with their Big 3 of LeBron, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook.

No chill for Chuck here.
