The Golden State Warriors were drubbed by the Los Angeles Lakers in their preseason opener on Saturday night.

After seeing the new-look Lakers up close, Warriors guard D'Angelo Russell can’t help but be in awe of his former squad, saying that they look “like a fantasy team” per Mark Medina of USA Today.

Los Angeles looked as good as advertised as they dominated from the get go. The superstar pairing of Anthony Davis and LeBron James showed impressive chemistry in their first game together. The led the Lakers to a 17-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 123-101 victory over the Warriors in the first game ever at the Chase Center.

Davis finished with a game high 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting and added 10 rebounds and two assists. James chimed in 15 points and eight assists, while starting center JaVale McGee notched a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

The Warriors, on the one hand, were led by two-time MVP Stephen Curry. Curry led the team with 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting. D'Angelo Russell had a rough debut for Golden State. He finished with just four points and struggled with his shot. He went just 2-of-9 from the field and failed to connect on all of his four attempts from beyond the arc.

Golden State looked lost for most of the night. It appears like they will need some more time to get it together as a unit. The good news for the Warriors is that we're still just in preseason.

The team will obviously get better and develop their chemistry with time.
