After getting traded last week, Isaiah Thomas finds himself with his third team in the last eight months. Now that he is with the Los Angeles Lakers, he looked back at his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers and reflected on why he thinks his stint in Northeast Ohio did not work out as planned.
The two-time All-Star shared that it may have been because of the number of new faces the team had. He also added, via ClutchPoints’ own Ryan Ward, that he will not expound on it anymore, but that’s what he believes the real reason is.
Isaiah Thomas on why it didn’t work out with the #Cavs: "For the most part, there was a lot of new faces in that organization. It just didn't click for whatever reason. I'm not here to comment on that too much, but it is what it is.” #Lakers

Thomas only appeared in 15 games for the Cavs as he recovered from a hip injury he suffered in last season’s playoffs. Upon his return, he was not able to make much of an impact as he was still trying to learn the team’s system and co-exist with their other players. It was also extra difficult for him as he had to adjust to becoming only the second, or even third option at times, on the offensive end, which is something new for him being the focal point and go-to-guy with the Boston Celtics.
Now in Los Angeles, it will be a new adjustment for him. The good news is that he was able to showcase his skill set and be effective on the court last Saturday when he debuted for the Lakers. That said, he could eventually start for them if he continues to play at the same level, which could mean there’s a chance he’ll play alongside Lonzo Ball once he’s healthy again.
